What is Functional Medicine and how it works with Nutritional Therapy
Our bodies are a relatively unknown biological phenomenon and though there is a lot of science out there, in fact we are only just learning how interconnected our systems are and the energetic and chemical feed back that goes on throughout our bodies on a second to second basis.
Functional medicine addresses the underlying causes of disease. Therapists trained in the use of Functional Medicine methodologies look at how each system of the body interacts with another system. So for example; how the hormone system affects the cardiovascular or digestive system. The therapist and client work as a team in a therapeutic partnership, rather like detectives unravelling an absorbing mystery.
It is a new and exciting evolution in the practice of long-term health care, that better addresses wellness in the 21st century.
Traditionally our present health is viewed from a disease-centered focus. Functional Medicine is a patient-centered approach, considering the whole person and not just individual symptoms. Practitioners spend time with their patients, listening to their histories and looking at the interactions between genetic, environmental, and lifestyle factors that can influence long-term health and chronic disease development.

I studied Nutritional Therapy with the Institute of Health Sciences in Dublin, qualifying after 3 years instead of the normal 4 years in 2014. Prior to that I have run clinics in Bristol and Ireland in Dietary counciling,anti-aging cosmetics, reflexology and hypnotherapy/NLP where I specialised in smoking cessation.
My working career started in the pharmaceutical industry as a laboratory technician and later as a sales person for research equipment. This experience has helped me move from allopathic medicine to working with our bodies natural ability and desire to heal.
I am available for house visits in the local area, 5 mile radius of Fleet, Hampshire, by prior arrangement.
Please contact me for days and times.
